Chen Pi and Sheng Jiang aid Ban Xia in transforming phlegm and drying dampness as well as downbearing counterflow and harmonizing the stomach. Gan Cao and Da Zao assist in the fortification of the spleen and harmonize all the other ingredients in the formula.
