This Bone Density Enhancer Formula combines the best in nutritional ingredients with Chinese herbal extracts to bring you a potent and easily absorbed calcium compound. It enhances calcium absorption by strengthening the bone-forming mechanism and improves calcium re-absorption rate in the intestine. Taken regularly, it helps to slow down bone degeneration and strength the bones.
Osteoporosis is called the "silent disease" because bone loss has no symptoms. People may not know that they have osteoporosis until their bones become so weak that a sudden bump, strain or fall causes a fracture or a collapsed vertebra. Today in the U.S., there are 8 million women and 2 million men with osteoporosis, 18 million with low bone mass, which means they are at risk for osteoporosis. And it is the 12th leading cause of death in America! Although osteoporosis is considered a disease for the older people, it does strike the younger people. "Osteoporosis"is the loss of bone mass and not only the thinning of bone as a result of calcium deficiency. Healthy bones require different nutrients to preserve adequate mineral mass, maintain strong supporting structures, and promote repair functions.
This formula uses TriCalcium Citrate, Calcium Pyruvate, a more soluble and expensive calcium compound for easy absorption. Calcium Pyruvate can also increase energy level and enhance fat loss. Vitamin D, Manganese, Copper, Boron, and other minerals such as Zinc and Selenium are added to promote calcium absorption, strengthen the bones as well as other health benefits.
Chinese herbal extracts are added to increase bone strength and improve the Kidney and Liver function. These herbs are also known to improve stamina, enhance sexual energy and vitality. Recent studies also show that Rehmannia Glutinosa (Shou Di Hunag) and Siberian Ginseng help to stimulate the proliferation and activity of bone-forming cells, osteoblasts, and inhibit the activity of osteoclast cells, bone-reabsorbing cells, thus promoting bone strength.
Calcium: It is the most abundant mineral in the human body, and 99% is located in the bones and teeth. Calcium is needed to form bones and teeth; for blood clotting, transmission of signals in nerve cells, and muscle contraction. It helps with lowering cholesterol; muscular growth; prevention of muscle cramps; protein structuring in DNA and RNA; provides energy; breaks down fats; maintains proper cell membrane permeability; aids in neuromuscular activity; helps to keep the skin healthy and also stops lead from being absorbed into the bones.
Calcium supplements typically are absorbed better when eaten with meals; because it may reduce the risk of kidney stones. Based on the circadian rhythm of bone loss, supplementing calcium in the evening appears better for osteoporosis prevention. All comparative studies find that calcium citrate/malate (CCM) is absorbed somewhat better than calcium carbonate. People with hyperparathyroidism, chronic kidney disease, or kidney stones should not supplement with calcium without consulting a physician. The calcium compounds used here are among the most easily absorbed organic forms available in the market.
Vitamin C: It is needed for the synthesis of collagen in the connective tissues, neurotransmitters, steroid hormones, carnitine, conversion of cholesterol to bile acids. It enhances iron bio-availability; promotes healthy cell development, proper calcium absorption, normal tissue growth and repair.
Magnesium: This mineral is essential for normal skeletal development. About 60% of the body?s magnesium is located in the bones. Magnesium assists the formation of bone and teeth and the absorption of calcium and potassium; relaxes the muscles; activates the enzyme alkaline phosphatase, which is necessary for the regulation of bone resorption; helps the muscle tone of the heart and the control of blood pressure; assists the parathyroid gland to process vitamin D; it is necessary for cellular metabolism and the production of energy through its help with enzyme activity. Its deficiency can lead to imbalances in parathyroid hormone (PTH) which adversely affects all aspects of bone growth, and cause problems for calcium absorption. According to Dr. Robert Cathcart, the developer of the artificial hip, deficiencies of magnesium and vitamin C may cause bone tissues to over-calcify, making the bones brittle and susceptible to fracture.
Boron: This naturally occurring, non-metallic chemical element is found in many fruits and vegetables. Studies show that dietary boron is important for hormone and skeletal function. Boron deficiency has been linked to changes in calcium metabolism, which affects bone formation and maintenance. These changes were magnified by a deficiency of magnesium. It has been reported that supplementation of boron helps to regulate plasma estradiol levels and decrease urinary calcium excretion in postmenopausal women; whereas in men, boron has been shown to increase testosterone, which can then influence the bone building osteoblast cells.
Vitamin D3: (cholecalciferol) and its active metabolite (Calcitrol) regulate the balance of bone mineral. Vitamin D3 ensures the proper serum levels of calcium and phosphate; regulates bone growth and regeneration; aids in increasing the absorption of calcium; promotes strong teeth; assists in a healthy heart and nervous system.
Selenium: It activates an antioxidant enzyme called glutathione peroxidase, which may help protect the body from cancer. Selenium enhances the antioxidant effect of vitamin E.
Zinc: It is a component of more than 300 enzymes needed to repair wounds; maintain fertility in adults and growth in children; synthesize protein; help the reproduction of cells; preserve vision; enhance immunity; protect against free radicals.
Copper Gluconate: Copper is a mineral that contributes to the healing processes. It plays a vital role in the synthesis of hemoglobin, collagen formation, bone development, nerve and joint health, energy production, immune function, and iron and zinc assimilation, hair and skin color. Copper also helps cardiovascular disease and arthritis.
Manganese Gluconate: Only recently has this essential trace element been discovered to be vital to human health. Its most important functions are: activates the action of numerous enzymes; helps in the utilization of vitamin B (thiamin), vitamin E (tocopherol) and iron; increases the level of the antioxidant, superoxide dismutase (SOD).
Chinese Herbal Extracts:
Shou Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Radix): This herb replenishes blood; regulates menstrual flow; nourishes the vital essence of the kidney.
Yin Yang Huo (Epimedium): This herb nourishes the kidney yang; strengthens the bones and sinews; anti-rheumatic by removing wind and dampness; anti-tussive; anti-asthmatic and nourish vital essence.
Nyu Zhen Zi (Ligustrum Fructus): This herb nourishes the vital essence of kidney and liver; strengthens the knees and waist; darkens the hair; enhances eyesight.
Ci Wu Jia (Eleutherococcus or Acanthopanax Senticosus): This herb is an adaptogen. It helps strengthen the bone, reduce stress, improve the immune system, fight cancer, decrease effects of radiation, enhance adrenal function, promotes endurance & resistance to stress. It also removes dampness, pain, weakness in the lower limbs.
