Chuan Jiao/Hua Jiao (Pericarpium Zanthoxyli) is also acrid and warm. They are powerfully aromatic and penetrating and strongly stop pain. Gui Zhi (Cortex Cinnamomi) is acrid and hot, warms the channels and vessels, and stops pain. La Jiao (Fructus Piperis Capsici) is acrid and hot and likewise warms the channels and vessels and stops pain. Bai Jie Zi (Semen Sinapis) is acrid and warm, moves yang and scatters cold. It is a very common ingredient in various medicinal or applied moxibustion formulas. Sheng Jiang (uncooked Rhizoma Zingiberis) is acrid and warm, moves the Qi and transforms dampness.
