Within this formula, Ren Shen, Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, and Zhi Gan Cao, the ingredients in Si Jun Zi Tang, are the sovereign medicinals which fortify the spleen and supplement the qi. The ministers in this formula are Shan Yao, Yi Yi Ren, Bai Bian Dou, and Lian Zi which supplement the spleen, seep dampness, and stop diarrhea. Sha Ren dries dampness and rectifies the qi, while Jie Geng upbears the clear. These two medicinals are the assistants.
