    FORMULA EXPLANATION
    Within this formula, Huang Lian, Huang Qin, Huang Bai, and Zhi Zi all clear heat and resolve toxins. Zhi Zi, in particular, clears heat from the blood aspect. Sheng Di Huang, Chi Shao, and Dang Gui all nourish and quicken the blood. Sheng Di Huang and Chi Shao also cool the blood and stop bleeding. Chuan Xiong moves the Qi within the blood. It aids the other three blood ingredients to quicken the blood and dispel stasis.
