Qian Hu downbears counterflow, thus stopping coughing, and resolves the exterior. Jie Geng descends the lung qi and also stops coughing. Zhi Ke moves the qi and loosens the chest. Chen Pi, Fu Ling, and Ban Xia transform phlegm and eliminate dampness. Sheng Jiang assists in transforming phlegm and eliminating dampness on the one hand and rectifying the qi on the other. It also resolves the exterior and scatters cold. Gan Cao harmonizes all the other medicinals in the formula.
